Ukraine Urges U.S. for Patriot Missiles Ahead of Winter
Ukraine is fighting a war with Russia.
Every night, Russia fires many missiles that can hurt people and buildings.
Ukraine's ambassador in Washington, Olha Stefanishyna, says they need special missiles called Patriot PAC‑3 to stop these attacks.
She is talking to the U.S. government about buying or making these missiles in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, also met with U.S. President Donald Trump to ask for help and to try to stop the fighting before winter.
Stefanishyna also said she might resign because of some questions about her money, but she will stay to defend herself.
The U.S. might send negotiators to Kyiv to help talk about peace.
Ukraine wants to get the missiles quickly because the war could get worse in winter.
They hope the new missiles will protect their people and help them win the war.
Ukraine’s envoy says the country urgently needs Patriot PAC‑3 missiles to counter Russian ballistic attacks.
Ukraine is negotiating with the Pentagon for a license to produce PAC‑3 missiles domestically, a process that could take 12 months to 5 years.
Ukraine is also exploring a long‑term purchase of PAC‑3 missiles and a production‑line swap with another buyer.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy met U.S. President Donald Trump to push for new air defenses and to restart ceasefire talks before winter.
Stefanishyna offered to resign amid corruption allegations but remains in her post to defend herself.
