J&K High Court Lists Detained AAP MLA's Habeas Corpus Plea for Final Hearing
A politician named Mehraj Malik, who is part of the AAP political party, has been in jail since September 8.
His political party has asked the court to let him out, saying he is being held unfairly.
The court was supposed to have a hearing, but the government's lawyers were a little late in giving their papers to the judge.
They said there was a small mistake in their paperwork.
The judge has told them to fix it and will look at everything again on November 20.
The party says people in the area this politician represents are sad because he cannot do his job while he is in jail.
The J&K and Ladakh High Court has scheduled the final consideration of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik's Habeas Corpus petition for November 20.
Malik, who is the AAP's Jammu and Kashmir unit president and represents the Doda East constituency, was arrested on September 8 under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for allegedly disturbing public order.
Malik's legal team argued that the government had not filed a reply to his petition, causing him to remain incarcerated and his constituency to suffer.
Government counsel stated that their reply was filed late with a defect in the affidavit and copies were served in open court.
The court directed the registry to place the government's replies on record and ordered the government to provide the relevant records on the next hearing date.
