Asian Games Organisers Seek Fewer Participants Amid Housing Strain

Asian Games Organisers Seek Fewer Participants Amid Housing Strain

The Asian Games in Japan are expected to have more people than organisers planned for.

About 17,000 athletes and officials have registered, compared with an estimate of 15,000.

This creates a problem because there is not a normal athletes’ village.

Instead, people will stay in hotels, temporary wooden buildings, and a cruise ship.

Organisers are talking with the Olympic Council of Asia about reducing the number of participants.

They want to make sure everyone has a place to stay.

The Games will take place in Nagoya and the Aichi region.

They are scheduled for September 19 through October 4.
