APEDA Rejects Claims of Organic Cotton Certification Issues
Imagine India has a special program to make sure the cotton grown is super healthy and organic, called NPOP.
Someone said this program wasn't working right, like the cotton was only grown in one place and that farmers were getting a lot of money.
But, the people in charge of the program, APEDA, said these claims were false.
They explained that the program covers many farmers across different areas and that they don't give farmers extra money.
The program has many checks to make sure everything is done correctly and fairly.
APEDA refuted claims of irregularities in organic cotton certification.
Claims were labeled 'unfounded, unsubstantiated, and misleading' by APEDA.
NPOP, India's organic certification program, was established in 2001.
APEDA stated cotton is covered under NPOP only during production.
APEDA denied providing any financial support to farmers under the program.
