ABVP Triumphs as NSUI's Chhatron Ki Goonj Fades
The ABVP won all the main positions in Delhi University’s student election.
The NSUI, linked to the Congress, did not win any position.
This happened even as Rahul Gandhi was speaking at a youth event called Chhatron Ki Goonj.
The article says the NSUI struggled to choose popular candidates and deal with campus politics.
It also says two rebel candidates hurt the NSUI campaign.
The party had discussed issues such as NEET and a shortage of hostels.
However, the article argues that students did not think the NSUI represented their concerns strongly enough.
More students chose NOTA, meaning none of the candidates, than in the previous election.
The ABVP won all four major Delhi University students’ union posts, while the NSUI won none.
The NSUI’s presidential candidate Vijay Meena received 21,390 votes, down from the previous year’s vice-presidential tally of about 29,300.
The article attributes the NSUI’s defeat to candidate selection, internal rebellion, caste politics, and weak campus outreach.
NSUI rebels Deepanshu Shaukeen and Vishesh Yadav are described as having damaged the party’s electoral strategy.
NOTA votes rose from 23,674 in the previous election to 23,942 this time.
