Gorkha community hails seventh anniversary of Article 370 abrogation

There is a group of people called the Gorkha community who live in a region called Jammu and Kashmir.

For a very long time, they did not have the same rights as other people living there.

They could not vote, get official papers called domicile certificates, or easily get government jobs.

About seven years ago, a special law called Article 370 was removed.

The Gorkha people say that this gave them back their rights and recognition.

They also received eight per cent reservation, which helps them get jobs and education.

On the anniversary, they shared sweets and thanked the Prime Minister and Home Minister.

Some political parties do not like the change and call the day a 'Black Day.'

The Gorkha community hopes their children will now have a bright future with more chances to learn and work.
