Aeromexico Plane Nearly Collides with Delta Plane in Mexico City
Imagine two airplanes trying to use the same runway at the same time!
That's almost what happened in Mexico City.
An Aeromexico plane was landing, and a Delta plane was taking off on the same runway.
Luckily, the Delta plane saw the other plane and stopped its takeoff.
The planes were very close, only about the length of a football field apart!
No one got hurt.
Experts think it might have been a mistake in communication between the pilots or air traffic control.
Investigations are underway to find out exactly what happened.
An Aeromexico plane nearly collided with a Delta Air Lines Boeing 737 during landing at Mexico City airport.
The incident happened on runway 5R at Benito Juarez International Airport on Wednesday, July 23.
The Delta flight, with 150 people, aborted takeoff after seeing the Aeromexico plane land on the same runway.
The planes were reportedly only 200 feet apart, according to a flight tracking website.
A former fighter pilot suggested the incident might have resulted from a failure in communication.
