MSEDCL Replaces Old Meters with TOD Meters, Offers Concession
The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) is switching out old electricity meters for new Time of Day (TOD) meters in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
These TOD meters will let people save money on their electricity bills.
Consumers using electricity between 9 am and 5 pm will receive a discount of 80 paise to Rs 1 per unit, which is cheaper.
The meters are being installed for free.
The new meters automatically record how much electricity is used and can be monitored on a mobile phone, making it easier to keep track of consumption.
This change follows a proposal approved by the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC), providing cheaper electricity to domestic consumers for the first time.
MSEDCL is replacing old meters with Time of Day (TOD) meters in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Domestic consumers using electricity between 9 am and 5 pm are eligible for a concession.
Around Rs 24 lakh in concessions were given to consumers between July and August.
Consumers receive a concession of 80 paise to Rs 1 per unit.
Meters are being installed free of cost.
