TISS Reschedules 86th Convocation to August 22 After Postponement
A university in Mumbai called TISS was getting ready to hold a big graduation ceremony.
The ceremony was planned for August 2, but just two days before, the school told students it was postponed.
The school said the decision was made because of something they called 'uncertain circumstances.'
They also said they wanted to keep students, teachers, and guests safe.
Some reports said the school was worried about possible protests at the event.
Students were upset because they had already paid for travel to get to the ceremony.
To help, TISS said it would pay back students for their travel costs.
It also said families would not have to pay to stay at the school's guesthouse.
The new ceremony is now planned for August 22.
The school is still waiting to confirm who the main guest speaker will be.
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) postponed its 86th convocation just two days before the scheduled August 2 event, citing 'uncertain circumstances.'
The ceremony has been rescheduled for August 22, 2026, though the chief guest for the new date has not yet been finalised.
TISS will reimburse genuine travel expenses incurred between July 31 and August 3; students must submit claims and documents by August 10.
Guesthouse charges for students and parents during the convocation period have been waived, and provisional degree certificates are available for graduates who need them.
Reports suggested the postponement was linked to concerns over possible protests by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) movement, but TISS has not officially confirmed this reason.
