Congress Protests Against G-RAM-G Act
The Congress party in Jharkhand and Rajasthan held a day-long fast to support MGNREGA, a law that guarantees jobs for rural workers.
They are worried that the new G-RAM-G Act will take away the rights and benefits that MGNREGA provides.
The fast is part of a 45-day campaign where they will also educate people about the advantages of MGNREGA and the changes in the new scheme.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav accused the Congress of using Mahatma Gandhi's name for political gain and defended the new G-RAM-G Act, stating it offers more benefits, including increased workdays and links to other development schemes.
The Congress workers believe that weakening MGNREGA is a direct attack on the employment and dignity of rural villagers.
