Channi Challenges Jat Sikh Dominance in Punjab Congress
There was a big meeting of the Congress party in Punjab.
Charanjit Singh Channi, who used to be the chief minister, spoke up and said that the party wasn't giving enough important jobs to Dalit leaders.
He said that most of the big positions were held by Jat Sikhs.
Other leaders supported him, but some disagreed.
The party president had to stop the discussion.
Channi wants to be the chief minister again in the next elections, but the party hasn't decided yet.
The Congress party has been trying to include more Dalit, Hindu, and OBC leaders, but Jat Sikhs still have a lot of influence.
Charanjit Singh Channi criticized the Punjab Congress for lack of Dalit representation in key positions during a party meeting.
Channi received support from Dalit leaders but faced opposition from other SC leaders and Jat Sikhs.
The PCC president had to intervene and stop the discussion, switching off Channi's mic.
Channi is positioning himself as a chief ministerial candidate for the 2027 Punjab Assembly polls.
