Telangana’s Nine-Day Bathukamma Festival Begins October 10
Bathukamma is a flower festival celebrated in Telangana.
In 2026, it starts on October 10 and lasts for nine days.
Women make tall, colourful arrangements using seasonal flowers.
They place a small turmeric idol of Goddess Gauramma on top.
People gather around the arrangements to sing and dance.
Each day has its own customs and traditional food offerings.
The festival celebrates nature and the bond between women and the divine.
On the last day, people take the flower arrangements to nearby water and immerse them.
Bathukamma began in Telangana on October 10, 2026, with Engili Pula Bathukamma, one day before Navratri.
The nine-day festival celebrates nature, flowers, Goddess Gauri and Telangana’s cultural traditions.
Women build layered, dome-shaped arrangements from seasonal flowers including gunugu, tangedu, marigolds and chrysanthemums.
Participants gather around the arrangements to sing folk songs and dance in circles.
The festival concludes on October 18 with Saddula Bathukamma, when floral arrangements are immersed in water.
