India Imposes Anti-Dumping Duty on Chinese Steel

India Imposes Anti-Dumping Duty on Chinese Steel

India has decided to charge extra money on a type of steel that comes from China.

This steel is used in things like motors and generators.

The extra charge, called an anti-dumping duty, is at least $223.82 for every ton of steel.

This will last for five years.

The reason for this is that India thinks the cheap steel from China is hurting their own steel companies.

They started looking into this after some Indian companies said they were being affected.

The government agreed with their findings and decided to put this extra charge on the steel.

Another type of steel, called CRFH, is not included in this charge.

Some people think this is good because it protects Indian companies, while others think it might make things more expensive for other industries in India.

Last month, India also put a similar charge on steel from Vietnam.
