MNNIT Faculty Suspended Amid Discrimination Allegations
An assistant professor named M. Venkatesh Naik at MNNIT in Allahabad was suspended from his job.
This happened after some of his colleagues complained about his behaviour.
The professor says he is facing discrimination, especially in how he gets students to help with his research.
The institute did not hold an inquiry before suspending him, which is against the rules.
Naik had previously complained about this to the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes.
The issue has arisen at a time when other cases of discrimination in education are being studied.
M. Venkatesh Naik, an assistant professor, was suspended from MNNIT on September 19.
The suspension followed a complaint of misbehaviour from 22 faculty members.
Naik alleges discrimination, particularly in the allocation of PhD candidates.
The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes directed the institute to allot PhD students to Naik.
Naik was suspended without an inquiry, which violates the Central Civil Service (Conduct) Rules.
