No Students Opt for Hindi Medium MBBS in Chhattisgarh
The Chhattisgarh government started a program to let students study MBBS in Hindi instead of English.
They made books in Hindi and trained teachers.
But in the current school year, no students chose to study MBBS in Hindi.
Only two students did this last year.
The government is trying to make it easier and give prizes, but not many students are interested yet.
Another state, Madhya Pradesh, started this program four years ago.
No students opted for Hindi medium MBBS in Chhattisgarh's government medical colleges this academic session.
Infrastructure and Hindi medium books are ready, and faculty are trained to teach in Hindi.
Only two students chose Hindi medium for MBBS exams in the previous academic session.
Chhattisgarh introduced the Hindi medium MBBS course last academic year, following Madhya Pradesh's lead.
Government efforts to encourage Hindi medium MBBS, including fee reductions and awards, have not yet yielded significant results.
