Early Monsoon Dampens India's Fuel Demand in June 2025
Imagine that the demand for petrol and diesel is like how much people are driving around.
In June, early rains came and cooled down how much people were driving.
Diesel usage actually went down, unlike the months before.
Petrol went up, but not as much as before.
Meanwhile, the use of jet fuel for airplanes and cooking gas continued to increase.
This is because of the weather and other factors.
Early monsoon rains slowed diesel consumption, resulting in negative growth in June.
Petrol demand growth slowed to 2.3% in the first half of June, compared to 9% in May.
Diesel consumption decreased by 4.8% in the first half of June, totaling 3.26 million tonnes.
Jet fuel (ATF) consumption grew by 3.1% in the first half of June, reaching 328,900 tonnes.
LPG (cooking gas) continued to rise, increasing by 4% in the first half of June, reaching 1.27 million tonnes.
