Indian Railways Sees Record High Reserved Bookings in 2024-25
More people are booking reserved train tickets in India!
In 2024-25, a record number of people reserved their seats.
This is a big jump from ten years ago.
People might be choosing reserved tickets because they want cleaner and more comfortable travel.
The railway is also making more trains available and using digital ticketing.
Even though fewer people are buying unreserved tickets, the railways are making a lot of money each day from passengers.
Indian Railways saw a record 81 crore reserved passenger bookings in 2024-25.
Reserved bookings increased 65% since 2014-15 and 40% since 2019-20.
Unreserved travel in non-suburban trains has decreased by approximately 30% since 2014-15.
Reasons for increased reserved travel include health safety, greater train availability, and digital ticketing.
Daily passenger revenue reached ₹207 crore in 2024-25.
