Ashok Leyland Gains from India's Commercial Vehicle Boom
Ashok Leyland, a big truck and bus company in India, is doing really well.
Their popular Saathi model is very popular, making up a big part of their sales.
The company got a bigger share of the market because of a tax cut that made new trucks and buses cheaper.
They also sold a lot more vehicles to other countries, especially in the Middle East, Africa, and nearby regions.
This all happened because more people wanted to buy smaller trucks, and the company did a great job meeting that demand.
Ashok Leyland's Saathi model accounts for 22-25% of total LCV volumes.
Growth in the 2-4 tonne category was 13% in Q2 and 15% in October.
GST rate cut lowered acquisition costs by around 10%, boosting sales.
Market share increased by 50 bps to 31% in MHCV and 90 bps to 13.2% in LCV.
Exports surged 45% year-on-year to 4,784 units in Q2, driven by demand in GCC, African, and SAARC regions.
