UP Government Challenges TET Mandate in Supreme Court
The Uttar Pradesh government is challenging a Supreme Court rule.
The court said teachers must pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), even if they're already teaching.
The government wants the court to reconsider, saying the teachers have lots of experience.
This is especially important after some teachers took their own lives because of the rule.
The government will ask the court to review its decision and find a solution that considers the teachers' work history.
Uttar Pradesh CM directed a review petition against the TET mandate.
The Supreme Court mandated TET for in-service teachers in Classes 1-8.
Teachers with less than five years left were exempted, with promotion requiring the test.
The government is concerned about teachers' experience.
The decision follows teacher suicides related to the TET requirement.
