Canada Targets H-1B Holders and Researchers Amidst Student Cap

Canada Targets H-1B Holders and Researchers Amidst Student Cap

Canada is making some big changes to who they let into the country.

They want to invite more super-smart scientists and people who have special work visas called H-1B.

To do this, they are putting aside a lot of money to help bring them in and make it easier for them to get approved.

However, at the same time, Canada is planning to let in many fewer students from other countries for school.

They are cutting the number of study permits by almost half of what they planned before.

The government says this is to help control the population growth and make things like housing more affordable.

Some people worry that this big cut in students might not be the best for Canada's universities and its overall economic goals.

They believe that bringing in fewer people could help workers earn more money, but the overall economic growth might not change much.

The government wants to make sure that people who aren't citizens are a smaller part of the total population.
