Vijayawada Plans 860 Polling Booths for Civic Elections
Vijayawada is getting ready for its next civic elections.
The city now has 86 divisions instead of 64.
Officials think about 860 polling booths will be needed.
This is more than the roughly 780 booths used before.
Nearly 937 booths were first proposed, but officials are reviewing that number.
They are checking how many voters live in each division.
Some voters are currently assigned to two or three booths, so the assignments are being reorganised.
The voter lists are expected to be published on September 22, and the final booth locations will be announced afterward.
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation is preparing for local elections after the State Election Commission issues notification.
VMC divisions have increased from 64 to 86 following completion of the delimitation process.
Officials expect to finalise about 860 polling booths, compared with roughly 780 in previous elections.
The preliminary process proposed nearly 937 booths, but authorities are rationalising them based on voter strength and other requirements.
Division-wise electoral rolls are scheduled for publication on September 22, after which the final booth list will be announced.
