UP Achieves 1 GW Solar Power Milestone
Uttar Pradesh has reached a big goal by setting up solar power on the roofs of 290,000 homes, adding up to 1 GW of solar power.
This helps families save money on electricity bills and protects the environment by saving 4,000 acres of land.
The government gave money to help people set up these solar panels, and it has created about 50,000 jobs.
This is good for the environment and the economy, and it helps both rural and urban areas.
Uttar Pradesh achieved 1 GW of residential rooftop solar power capacity under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijlee Yojana (PMSG: MBY).
Solar panels were installed on 290,000 homes, benefiting around 293,000 families with affordable or free electricity.
The project saved approximately 4,000 acres of land and reduced dependence on conventional energy sources.
The Central and State Governments provided subsidies totaling ₹2,599.26 crore, significantly reducing the financial burden on consumers.
The scheme created about 50,000 jobs in related sectors and increased the number of vendors from 81 to 4,200.
