PMK Urges Tamil Nadu CM to Cancel Karnataka Visit Over Water Dispute
The PMK party leader, Anbumani Ramadoss, said that the Tamil Nadu chief minister should not go to Karnataka on August 3 because Karnataka is not giving water to Tamil Nadu as the court said.
He said that if the chief minister talks with Karnataka’s chief minister, it will not help Tamil Nadu.
He also said that Karnataka’s water storage is big and they could keep more water.
Some groups in Karnataka want to stop people from traveling.
Anbumani wants the chief minister to cancel the trip to protect Tamil Nadu’s farmers and keep the water rights safe.
PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to cancel his August 3 visit to Karnataka over the Cauvery water dispute.
He criticized Karnataka for refusing to release 3,500 cusecs of water per second as ordered by the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) to protect Tamil Nadu’s crops.
Anbumani warned that talks with Karnataka’s Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar would yield no benefit and could jeopardize Tamil Nadu’s stance on the Mekedatu dam.
He cited that Karnataka’s reservoirs hold 67.078 TMC of water, and releasing the required amount would use only a sixth of inflows, allowing Karnataka to increase storage.
The PMK leader said pro‑Kannada groups threatened bandhs and that Karnataka’s CM had convened an all‑party meeting to challenge the water release.
