DOGE Denies Shutdown Reports, Vows Return
The Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, is a group that was created to make the government work better and save money.
Some people said DOGE was shutting down, but DOGE said that's not true.
They said they are just taking a short break and will be back soon.
DOGE has saved a lot of money by ending unnecessary contracts and other things.
They also said they are still working with other government groups to improve technology.
Some people who used to work for DOGE are now in important jobs in other government departments.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has taken over many of DOGE's functions, and some former DOGE employees are now involved with the National Design Studio.
The government workers and contractors who were affected by the shutting down of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) want Elon Musk to testify in a lawsuit which accuses him of unlawfully directing the dissolution of the agency.
DOGE denied reports of its shutdown, calling them 'fake news' from Reuters.
The department claimed to have saved $335 million last week by terminating 78 contracts.
DOGE vowed to resume its standard Friday updates soon.
The department has saved an estimated $214 billion as of October 4, 2025.
Several former DOGE staff members have moved to other significant government roles.
