Madras HC Orders CBFC to Issue UA Certificate for Jana Nayagan
The movie Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, was supposed to come out on January 9, 2026.
But the Censor Board (CBFC) had some concerns about the movie, like too much violence and some symbols that might need special permission.
They also thought some scenes might upset certain groups.
Because of these concerns, the movie's release was delayed.
The makers of the movie went to the Madras High Court to ask for help.
The court looked at the case and said the Censor Board should give the movie a UA certificate, which means parents should guide their kids when watching it.
The court also said the complaint against the movie seemed to come up too late and shouldn't have caused a delay.
Now, the movie can be released, but the new date hasn't been announced yet.
The makers of the movie are happy because they can now show the movie to everyone.
The Censor Board, however, has appealed against the High Court's order.

The court found the complaint against the film to be an 'afterthought' and warned that entertaining such complaints could set a 'dangerous trend'.
The film's release was initially postponed due to the certification delay, with refunds initiated for pre-booked tickets.
The CBFC has appealed against the Madras High Court's order to issue the UA certificate.
