Ramayana Eyes 59,000 Screens, Widest Indian Cinema Release
A new movie called Ramayana is being made.
It retells an old Indian story.
The movie has many famous actors, including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash.
The people making it want to show the movie in more than 59,000 movie theaters around the world.
That would be more theaters than many famous big movies ever used.
It will be shown in India in about 9,000 theaters.
The rest will be in other countries, handled by a big movie company called Sony Pictures.
The movie will open on November 6, 2026, during the Diwali festival.
It will have two parts, and the second part is expected in 2027.
If it happens, it will be the biggest Indian movie release ever.
Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is reportedly targeting more than 59,000 screens worldwide, the widest theatrical rollout ever planned for an Indian film.
The two-part mythological epic stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, produced by Namit Malhotra.
International distributor Sony Pictures is reportedly planning an overseas launch on more than 50,000 screens outside India, with around 9,000 screens in India.
The reported screen count would surpass Avatar: The Way of Water's roughly 52,000 screens, while RRR and Pushpa 2 released on approximately 10,000–13,000 screens.
Part 1 releases on November 6, 2026 during Diwali, with Part 2 expected during Diwali 2027; the project reportedly has a combined budget of around ₹4,000 crore.
