SAIMS Offers Free PET-CT Screening on Mental Health Day
SAIMS in Indore plans to offer free screening on October 10.
The date is World Mental Health Day.
Doctors will use a special scan called PET-CT.
The scan uses a substance called F-18 DOPA to show information about activity in the brain and other tissues.
Doctors say it may help assess some brain and mental health conditions.
It can also help doctors tell similar conditions apart.
The scan is meant to give doctors more information, not replace their judgment.
SAIMS says the program aims to help patients get suitable care sooner.
Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences will offer free mental health screening on October 10, World Mental Health Day.
The screening will use advanced nuclear medicine imaging, including F-18 DOPA PET-CT.
SAIMS says the initiative is Madhya Pradesh's first of its kind.
The scan can help assess Parkinsonian syndromes, brain tumours, neuroendocrine tumours and selected psychiatric conditions.
Hospital doctors say scan results can support diagnosis, help distinguish similar conditions and guide treatment planning.
