August 28 Partial Lunar Eclipse to Cover 96.2 Percent

A lunar eclipse happens when Earth’s shadow falls on the Moon.

On August 28, people in some parts of the world may see a partial lunar eclipse.

The eclipse is also called Chandra Grahan.

It is expected to reach its highest point at 12:12 a.m.

EDT.

At that time, most of the Moon will be inside Earth’s darkest shadow.

This darkest shadow is called the umbra.

About 96.2 percent of the Moon’s surface will be covered then.

The report does not say whether the eclipse will be visible in India or whether Sutak Kaal will apply there.
