Patiala Evicts MLA's Residence Amid Legal Drama
A politician named Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, who is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and represents the Sanaur area, had his official home taken away by the Patiala government.
This happened because a court said he was a proclaimed offender, which means he didn't follow the law and didn't show up for investigations related to serious charges like rape and cheating.
The politician's family tried to stop the eviction, but the government moved their belongings to another place.
The politician, who is reportedly in Australia, said on social media that he would fight against this decision and expose problems within his party.
The case is causing political challenges for the AAP government.
Patiala administration evacuated the official residence of AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra amid resistance from his family.
The eviction followed a Patiala court declaring Pathanmajra a proclaimed offender in December 2025 for failing to join an investigation into charges of rape, cheating, and criminal intimidation.
Pathanmajra's family claimed they had filed an appeal against the eviction notice, but the house was evacuated before the appeal could be heard.
Pathanmajra, reportedly in Australia, went live on Facebook urging supporters to reach the spot and appealing to other political leaders for help.
The case has posed a major political challenge for the ruling AAP, with Pathanmajra warning of exposing party loopholes.
