Abakkus CEO expects FIIs return as India's headwinds become tailwinds
Headwinds faced in 2024 are now tailwinds, says this fund manager, sees FIIs returning to India · businesstoday.in

Abakkus Mutual Fund is a company in India that helps people invest their money.

Its leader, Vaibhav Chugh, says investors from other countries are starting to invest in India again.

A while ago, these foreign investors left because Indian stocks were very expensive.

Since then, stock prices in India have fallen a lot, so they are cheaper to buy now.

Mr. Chugh says India also now looks better for companies to grow their earnings.

In July 2026, foreign investors put around 20,200 crore rupees into Indian stocks.

They also bought more stocks than they sold in August 2026 so far.

Mr. Chugh says new areas like electric cars, cyber security and quick service restaurants are growing in India.

He believes these 'future-ready' companies will help the Indian market do well going forward.

CEO of Abakkus Mutual Fund

“In 2024, the reasons for which FIIs started pulling out, most of those things are already behind us. We were the top performing market with very low earnings visibility. Market was expensive, and the AI play had also started. Now, we are the least performing market and have one of the best earnings visibility. So, that has turned around. Most of the AI play has also played out.”

“Growth in India is now happening in many new sectors, like electric vehicles, cyber security, medical tourism and lifestyle… Quick Commerce, QSRs (quick service restaurants), these are now part of our life. This is where the next India is growing. Structurally if you are not present there, in future you may underperform.”
