Khalistan convoy in Indianapolis highlights extremists exploiting Western freedom

Some people who want to create a new country called Khalistan for Sikh people drove many cars with yellow flags on a big highway in Indianapolis.

The line of cars was five miles long, and it made traffic very slow for other drivers.

They organized this convoy to ask people to vote in a special vote about making a separate Sikh state.

The vote is scheduled for August 16 at a place called Richard G. Lugar Plaza.

The group behind the convoy is called 'Sikhs for Justice.'

A report says the vote has no legal power, so it cannot change borders or force any government to do anything.

Most Sikh people, both in India and living abroad, do not support the idea of a separate country.

The report worries that events like this make people think all Sikh people support separatism, which is not true.

It says Sikh people are successful entrepreneurs, professionals, soldiers, and neighbors who should not be judged by a small group's actions.
