Lebanese Army Expands Border Presence, Dismantles Hezbollah Posts
The Lebanese Army is working hard to keep the peace along the border with Israel.
They have sent almost 10,000 soldiers to the area, closed smuggling routes, and are cleaning up leftover bombs from the war.
They showed journalists around and explained how they are taking control of places where Hezbollah used to be strong.
Israel has been doing airstrikes almost every day, and Hezbollah says it won't give up its weapons until Israel stops attacking and leaves some captured areas.
The Lebanese Army is finding and dismantling tunnels, rocket launchers, and missiles left by Hezbollah, and they are working to rebuild the damaged homes and roads in the border villages.
The Lebanese Army has increased its presence to nearly 10,000 troops along the border with Israel, closing 11 smuggling routes and dealing with unexploded ordnance.
Journalists were taken on a tour of the border area, where Hezbollah's former posts are now controlled by Lebanese troops.
Israel has conducted almost daily airstrikes since the November 2023 ceasefire, killing 127 civilians, while Hezbollah claims it no longer has an armed presence south of the Litani River.
The Lebanese Army has discovered 74 tunnels, 175 rocket launchers, and 58 missiles since September, with 200 posts and 29 fixed checkpoints south of the Litani River.
Hezbollah refuses to disarm fully until Israel stops its attacks and withdraws from captured hilltop points, while the Lebanese government supports a U.S.-backed disarmament plan.
