Supreme Court Rejects PIL Seeking Removal Of Communal Posts

A person asked India’s Supreme Court to order the removal of social media posts.

He said the posts could encourage conflict between religious communities.

His lawyer presented the request to the court.

The court did not grant the request.

Chief Justice Surya Kant said people should not overreact to such posts.

He also said the petitioner should contact the appropriate authorities first.

The court indicated that those authorities should consider the complaint before the Supreme Court is approached.

The posts were therefore not ordered removed by the court at this stage.
