Glenmark settles Humana generic drug antitrust case for $15.28 million
A big medicine company called Glenmark makes generic drugs, which are cheaper copies of other medicines.
Another company, Humana, said Glenmark and other drug companies cheated by agreeing on prices together.
Humana said this made medicines cost more money than they should have.
Glenmark says it did not do anything wrong.
Instead of going to court for a long time, Glenmark agreed to pay Humana $15.28 million to make the problem go away.
Glenmark already saved that money in its records, so paying it will not hurt the company much.
This deal is only one part of a bigger court case that started back in 2016.
Glenmark is still saying it did nothing wrong and will keep fighting the other parts of the case.
A different agreement with state officials from earlier was separate from this one.
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA, agreed to pay $15,285,369 including interest to settle antitrust litigation with Humana Inc.
The settlement resolves allegations of price-fixing, market allocation and other anti-competitive conduct involving generic pharmaceutical products.
Glenmark said the full settlement amount was already provided for in its financial statements, so no significant financial impact is expected.
The agreement covers three complaints filed by Humana within consolidated litigation before the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania dating back to 2016.
Glenmark denies all allegations and said the settlement is separate from its previously disclosed $29.628 million agreement with state attorneys general.
