Mumbai Police Registers High Drug Consumption Cases
In the first half of the year, Mumbai Police reported a lot of cases related to drug use and possession.
They found and took away a lot of drugs, especially a type called MD, which is very valuable.
The police are working hard to stop drugs from being sold and used, but they also think it's important to teach people about the dangers of drugs and help those who are addicted.
The government is also trying to make the state free from drugs by working together with different departments.
Mumbai Police registered 4,012 NDPS cases from January to June, with 3,426 consumption cases outnumbering 586 possession cases.
A total of 3,787 people were arrested, and narcotics worth over ₹206.38 crore were seized.
Ganja was the most seized drug by quantity, while MD was the most valuable narcotic recovered.
MD worth ₹146.7 crore was seized, accounting for nearly 71% of the total seizure value.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed authorities to dismantle the illegal economy linked to narcotics and intensify efforts to make the state drug-free.
