Tata Sons Listing Dispute Moves Toward Bombay High Court

Tata Sons Listing Dispute Moves Toward Bombay High Court

Tata Sons is the company that holds important parts of the Tata group.

The Reserve Bank of India says Tata Sons must follow rules for certain large financial companies.

One possible requirement is that Tata Sons sell shares to the public by listing them on the stock market.

Tata Sons asked not to be treated under those rules, but the regulator rejected that request.

Tata Trusts wants the company to stay private and believes there may be other ways to comply.

Another shareholder group, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, supports listing.

The company’s board supported listing and also supported extending N Chandrasekaran’s chairmanship.

Noel Tata disagreed with both positions.

The regulator has prepared to respond quickly if Tata Trusts or another party takes the dispute to court.
