DGCA Orders IndiGo to End Turkish Lease By August
IndiGo has been leasing planes from Turkish Airlines to fly to Europe.
The government has decided this arrangement needs to end soon.
The DGCA, the aviation regulator, has given IndiGo one last extension until August to stop using the Turkish planes.
This decision followed a government review, with the expectation that IndiGo will find new planes or routes that will not involve these leasing arrangements in the future.
DGCA granted IndiGo a final extension on its wet lease arrangement with Turkish Airlines, ending August 31, 2025.
The extension prevents passenger disruption, as IndiGo had requested a further six-month extension.
IndiGo must terminate the lease within the extended period and will not seek further extensions.
The two Boeing 777s operate flights between India, Istanbul, and Europe.
The DGCA's decision follows the government revoking security clearance for a Turkish ground handling company.
