Supreme Court Rejects Plea to Include Savarkar in 1950 Act
Imagine a law that protects certain names from being used incorrectly.
A person wanted the name of Vinayak Savarkar added to this list.
This person had been studying Savarkar for a long time and wanted to officially state certain facts.
They asked the highest court in the land to make this happen.
But the court said there was no good reason to do this because the person's basic rights weren't being hurt.
The court told the person they should ask the government if they want Savarkar's name in school lessons.
The court had also previously addressed remarks about Savarkar made by a politician.
The Supreme Court dismissed a plea to include Vinayak Savarkar's name in the Emblems and Names Act.
The petitioner, researching Savarkar for 30 years, sought to establish facts legally.
The court found no violation of the petitioner's fundamental rights.
The Chief Justice questioned the violation of fundamental rights.
The court suggested a representation to the Union of India for curriculum inclusion.
