Budameru Canal Breach Repaired with New Concrete Wall
The Budameru canal, which had a broken section, has been fixed with a new wall built quickly.
The minister in charge announced the completion.
The left side of the canal was also made stronger.
New gates were added to help control water flow.
Other work is planned, like making the canal bigger and cleaning it out, to prevent flooding and help water move more freely to the sea.
A new 365-meter concrete wall has been constructed to plug the Budameru canal breach.
Construction began after tenders were called in May.
The canal's left bank was strengthened by raising its height.
12 new gates were set up at the Velagaleru regulator.
