Uttarakhand Road Deaths Reach 775 in First Seven Months

Uttarakhand is seeing many serious road accidents.

By July 2026, 775 people had died in crashes.

This is almost as many as the 795 deaths recorded by July 2025.

The most affected districts include Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar and Nainital.

Officials say speeding and careless driving are important causes.

Mountain roads can also be dangerous because of potholes, missing barriers and unsafe overtaking.

The government is repairing dangerous places and using cameras to catch traffic violators.

However, these efforts have not yet led to the expected fall in deaths.
