Court Grants Bail in Homicide Case After Natural Cause Death
A man named Ashok Mittal was accused of causing the death of his sister-in-law, Santosh Mittal.
The police thought it might be a case of homicide, but the doctor's report said Santosh died because of a heart problem, not because of any injury.
The court looked at the report and decided that since there were no signs of injury and the death was natural, Ashok should be allowed to go free until the trial.
The court said keeping him in jail wouldn't help the case since the death was natural.
A Chandigarh court granted bail to Ashok Mittal in a culpable homicide case after a postmortem report indicated the victim's death was due to natural causes.
The victim, Santosh Mittal, was found unconscious and later declared dead after an alleged assault by her brother-in-law, Ashok Mittal.
The postmortem report showed no external injuries and opined that the cause of death was acute coronary insufficiency in a pre-existing case of chronic ischaemic heart disease.
The defense argued that since the death was natural, there was no need to detain the accused further.
The court observed that there was no eyewitness to the incident and only the complainant's statement suggested a homicidal death.
