Minimally Invasive Bypass Surgery Enables Faster Recovery, Study Finds

Doctors tested two ways to perform heart bypass surgery.

One method uses a small cut between the ribs.

The other method opens the breastbone in the usual way.

The study included 170 people with several blocked heart arteries.

People who had the smaller operation recovered physically better after one month.

They also needed fewer blood transfusions and less time using a breathing machine.

After one year, both groups had similar results.

No one in either group died or had a stroke during that year.

This suggests the less invasive method may help people recover faster without worsening longer-term outcomes.
