IIMC Orientation Highlights Journalism Ethics and Industry-Academia Collaboration

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication held an orientation programme for its 2026–27 students in Dhenkanal.

Asutosh Rath of NALCO told students that journalists and communicators must follow strong ethical principles.

He said people expect information to be truthful and accurate, especially during difficult situations.

Rath warned organisations not to give misleading information during crises.

He also advised students to learn communication, graphic design and new technologies.

Students were encouraged to gain deep knowledge about the subjects they cover.

NALCO plans to offer corporate communication internships to IIMC students starting next year.

The event also included a quiz, prizes, interviews and discussions about careers and industry cooperation.
