Rajasthan SHRC Orders Jaipur Fire-Safety Improvements After Blaze
A large fire damaged many shops in Jaipur’s Purohitji Ka Katla area.
The Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission inspected the affected building afterward.
Inspectors found that a fire hydrant inside the building did not work.
They also found narrow stairways and many shops in a crowded space.
Officials said there was no nearby water point for firefighters.
They also said the water pressure was low while fighting the fire.
The commission told Jaipur authorities to improve hydrants, water supplies and firefighting equipment.
The authorities must submit more information before the next hearing on October 9.

Officials said no hydrant or water point was available within about 1 to 1.5 kilometres of the site, while water pressure was low during firefighting.
Authorities must report on Jaipur’s fire stations, hydrants, water storage, fire tenders, equipment and action against complexes lacking required fire-safety arrangements.
