Omdia Assessment Highlights TCL SQD-Mini LED Picture Quality
TCL makes televisions using a technology called SQD-Mini LED.
Omdia tested the technology and gave it top scores in several picture-quality areas.
These areas included brightness, color consistency, color range and clear movement in 4K video.
The technology also performed strongly in contrast and motion processing.
SQD-Mini LED combines special screen materials with many small LED lights.
Omdia said the colors stayed stable even when only a small part of the screen showed color.
TCL says it is also developing other Mini LED approaches.

Omdia’s comparative evaluation gave TCL SQD-Mini LED scores of 10 out of 10 for brightness, color consistency, color gamut and 4K motion clarity.
The technology also delivered strong results in local-dimming contrast and MEMC.
SQD-Mini LED combines an ultra-high-color-gamut panel, Super Quantum Dot materials and Mini LED backlight control.
Omdia reported that TCL’s model maintained stable color gamut as the displayed color area changed from 100% to 1%.
TCL said SQD-Mini LED forms part of a broader portfolio that also includes QD-Mini LED and RGB-Mini LED technologies.
