Human Brain Organoids Integrated Into Mouse Brains, Enabling Disease Research

Scientists grew tiny pieces of human brain tissue in a laboratory.

They placed these tissues, called organoids, into specially prepared mouse brains.

The organoids survived and grew inside the mice.

They developed many kinds of human brain cells and connected into circuits.

The mice with the organoids performed differently on some movement and memory tests.

This may help scientists learn more about how the human brain develops.

It could also help researchers study conditions such as ADHD and autism.

However, the organoids are not the same as a fully developed human brain.

Their effects may come from the way human and mouse brain parts worked together.
