Thane Court Acquits Six in Attempted Murder Case
A court in Thane, India, has freed six men who were accused of trying to kill a social worker named Ronald Anthony Issac.
The court said the police did not do a good job investigating the case and there were no neutral people who saw what happened to support the story.
The men were accused of planning to hurt Issac and attacking him with swords, but the court said the evidence was not strong enough to prove they were guilty.
The victim is known for his work in local elections.
The court decided that because of these problems, the men should be freed.
Thane Sessions Court acquitted six men accused of attempting to murder social worker Ronald Anthony Issac.
The court cited serious lapses in the police investigation and lack of independent witness testimony as reasons for the acquittal.
Principal Sessions Judge S. B. Agrawal noted that the prosecution failed to examine key independent witnesses mentioned in the FIR.
The prosecution alleged that the accused planned to attack and kill Issac outside a public toilet, using swords and a hexablade.
The court found the prosecution's case weak due to the absence of neutral eyewitnesses and failure to examine crucial witnesses.
