Delhi Police Block 400 Pakistan-Operated Handles for AI Deepfakes on Student Protests
The Delhi Police have blocked over 400 social media handles that they say are operated from Pakistan.
These handles were spreading fake news and deepfake videos about student protests in Delhi.
The police say these handles also spread false information during a previous event called Operation Sindoor.
They are working with other agencies to find more such handles.
The police have warned people to check the facts before sharing anything on social media, especially on Instagram.
They also said that a claim about a protester's death was false, and the person is actually alive and receiving treatment.
The protests are about a test called NEET, where some people think there was cheating.
Over 400 Pakistan-operated social media handles blocked for spreading AI-generated content and deepfakes about student protests.
Handles circulated deepfake videos, edited photographs, and manipulated visual content.
Some handles were also active during Operation Sindoor, spreading false information.
Delhi Police are collaborating with other agencies to identify additional accounts.
Police warn users to verify information before sharing, especially on Instagram.
