Columbia Disaster Changed Space Missions Safety Forever

Columbia Disaster Changed Space Missions Safety Forever

In 2003, the space shuttle Columbia broke apart when it was coming back to Earth, and everyone on board died.

A piece of foam came off during liftoff and hurt the wing.

After this, NASA was told to be more careful.

They changed how they built the shuttles and later stopped using them completely.

This changed how we do space missions, making safety a much bigger deal.
