UK's Youngest Dementia Patient Dies at 24
Andre Yarham, who was only 24 years old, was the youngest person in the UK to have a type of dementia called frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
Normally, this disease affects people who are much older, usually between 45 and 65.
Andre's brain looked and worked like the brain of a 70-year-old person.
He passed away on December 27, 2025, after getting an infection.
Before he died, he couldn't speak anymore, but his family says he kept his sense of humor and smile until the end.
His family donated his brain to scientists so they can study it and maybe help other people with this disease in the future.
Andre's mom said that dementia is a very cruel disease because there is no treatment that can make people better like there is for some other diseases.
Andre Yarham, Britain's youngest dementia patient, died at 24 after being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
He was diagnosed at 22 when his mother noticed changes in his memory and behavior.
Scans showed his brain had the appearance and function of a 70-year-old's brain.
He lost his speech a month before his death but retained his personality and sense of humor.
His brain was donated to researchers at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for scientific study.
